Brookaven, Miss. – According to Disease forecaster Ascel Bio, the Mississippi town of Brookhaven has an increased favorability of being hit with the Zika virus.
Bio released a statement that said along with Brookhaven, the cities of Key West and Atlantic City, doutheastern Louisiana, and Hawaii all show favorable conditions for where mosquito growth is likely.
Although there has been no ongoing transmission of Zika in the continental U.S., Mosquitoes that do carry the disease spread when weather conditions are right.
This year, there have been five cases of Zika reported in Mississippi.
