GULFPORT, Miss.- The YouthBuild program in Gulfport has been given over $1.0 million from the U.S. Department of Labor.
YouthBuild is for students trying to earn their GED and also gain construction and other skills that eventually lead to employment opportunities.
“YouthBuild provides young people with an alternative path for completing their education and learning career skills. The Gulfport program will be able to use this funding to continue its good work on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said Sen. Thad Cochran, chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
77 programs including Gulfport in over 35 states were awarded the funding. The YouthBuild programs are operated by non-profit or public entities that require non-federal private or public funding.
The Labor Department grant was awarded to CLIMB Community Development Corp.
