Severe storms will be possible today for areas along and north of the Highway 82 corridor. According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, damaging wind gusts will be the main threat.
Northern Mississippi–
Scattered thunderstorms and a chance of light rain through this evening. Highs will be in the upper 80s with lows near 70.
Central Mississippi–
A slight chance of light rain and isolated thunderstorms through this evening. Highs will be in the lower to mid-90s, with the highest heat index readings between 100 and 103. Lows tonight will be in the lower 70s.
Southern Mississippi–
Sunny with highs in the mid-90s, heat index readings between 100 and 105. Clear tonight with lows in the mid-70s.
