The threat of severe storms later this week has increased, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.
An Enhanced risk is now in place for a good portion of central Mississippi from late Friday afternoon into the overnight. With higher confidence in severe weather, the primary threats will be tornadoes, some of which could be strong, along with damaging winds and large hail.
Northern Mississippi–
Partly sunny this morning, then clearing, with highs near 80. Becoming mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers after midnight. Lows will be in the mid-60s.
Central Mississippi–
Sunny today with highs in the lower to mid-80s. Becoming mostly cloudy overnight, with lows in the mid-60s.
Southern Mississippi–
Mostly sunny with highs in the lower 80s. Becoming mostly cloudy tonight with lows in the mid to upper 60s.
