Northern Mississippi

It will be mostly sunny today with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 90s with heat index readings from 111 to 116. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers, thunderstorms, and lows in the mid-70s.

Central Mississippi

Today will be mostly sunny with patchy fog in the morning and haze and patchy smoke. There’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 90s with heat index readings from 112 to 117. There’s a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight. Lows will be in the mid-70s.

Southern Mississippi

It will be mostly sunny with patchy fog in the morning and a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-90s with heat index readings from 100 to 113. Tonight will be partly cloudy with patchy fog after midnight and lows in the mid-70s.

Dangerous to significant heat stress is expected to persist through at least early this weekend. Areas west of I-55 have observed multiple days of heat indices between 110-115 degrees. As such, an Extreme risk of dangerous heat has been introduced in these areas. Please be sure to take breaks from the outdoors and stay hydrated.
