According to investigators, a house fire that sparked a 121 acre wildfire in Yazoo County is being investigated as arson.
Monday night, authorities responded to a house fire on Halford Lane that quickly transformed into a wildfire. The fuel of the inferno according to the Mississippi Forestry Commission was the downed trees and debris that had been piled up from tornado damage in 2010.
Wednesday, the MFC announced on Twitter that the fire had been contained and that firefighters were safe and on their way home.
The MFC tells local media that it took over 14 hours to contain the fire and that 56 homes and structures were saved.
