Ole Miss has secured the commitment of a wide receiver transfer from within the SEC.

Redshirt freshman Dionte Marks will leave Gainesville to join Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. The 6’2, 178-pound WR announced his decision on social media last night.

According to Florida’s team website, Marks appeared in two games in 2019 but didn’t record a stat after committing to the Gators as a three-star recruit out of high school. During his senior year at DeLand HS, Marks caught 45 passes for 964 yards and 11 TDs.

It originally appeared as if Marks would stay close to home after seemingly committing to UCF last week, but he backed off that commitment ahead of his announcement. Ole Miss OC Jeff Lebby joined Kiffin’s staff in December after spending the past two seasons in Orlando at UCF.

It’s unclear at this time whether Marks will be able to join the Rebels in 2020 due to NCAA transfer rules. If he is able to get a waiver approved, he’ll be competing for playing time in a young WR room led by Elijah Moore, who was recently named the Biletnikoff Award watch list.

It’s been a busy few days for Ole Miss recruiting news after Jack Tannehill, a 2021 kicker prospect and son of Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill, decommitted from the program on Tuesday. Less than an hour later, Cade Costa, another high-level kicker prospect, joined the Rebels class.
