UNION COUNTY, Miss. — The woman accused of adopting children and then abusing them is now one of the U.S. Marshal Service’s Most Wanted fugitives.
Janet Barreto is wanted in Union County for not showing up in court to face manslaughter, child abuse, child neglect and witness tampering charges. She is also wanted by the feds for unlawfully fleeing to avoid prosecution. Investigators say one of her adopted kids, died as a result of Barreto’s cruel treatment. You can get a reward of up to $25,000, for information that leads to her arrest. Barreto’s husband Ramon Is also wanted in connection with the crimes. The two are believed to have ties to Mexico, California, Florida, Nevada, Tennessee and Texas.
