PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss– A woman and her daughter were searching for ducks that had left their property, when they found the skeletal remains and a rusty shotgun in the woods.
“It was a skull, and I had turned it over thinking it was plastic,” Shelia Tarver tells WLOX.
Pearl River County cops say the skull was separated from the rest of the skeleton. A corroded shotgun was found on site, but it was so damaged that police couldn’t do anything with it. David Allison, Pearl River County Sheriff, says they remains have been there a while.
“It looks like two or three years,” says Allison.
A wallet with identification was in the pocket of the clothing. Police are almost certain the ID will match the body, but they aren’t saying anything until the results come back from state crime lab.
