SPRINGFIELD, Ill.–The murder of Tamy Gomez Vasquez, 24, in Springfield, Illinois, has her neighbors upset. But they can rest easier knowing her confessed killer is locked up. Mondavier Knight, her boyfriend, confessed to the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Dept. Monday.
Knight is from Mississippi, and authorities reported he came into the sheriff’s office and told them he killed his girlfriend.
“Based on the evidence and I don’t want to go into too much detail with the evidence but at this point we believe that it’s clear that he did commit this murder and that he strangled Tamy,” Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser told FOX 55/27 in Springfield.
What happens to Knight next depends on if he contests extradition. If he doesn’t, he’ll go back to Illinois right away. If he does decide to fight it, the state will obtain a governor’s warrant and bring him back anyway to face the charges.
