BILOXI, Miss. – The long awaited name of Biloxi’s new double A Minor League baseball team will be announced November 24.
A “Name the Team” contest earlier this year narrowed the list of suggestions from more than 4,000 submissions to six finalists: Beacon, Black Jacks, Mullets, Schooners, Shrimpers and Shuckers. The winning entries will be rewarded with two tickets to the first game at MGM Park.
The franchise currently operates under the name Huntsville Stars. It will move to Biloxi for the start of the 2015 season. A $36 million stadium is being built for the team along U.S. 90.
