HINDS COUNTY, Miss. – Some folks in Raymond and the surrounding area were without power Monday after apparent wind damage.
According to Entergy spokesperson Mara Hartman, a jumper burned up due to wind, and that set off a chain reaction causing a breaker at one of Entergy’s substations to stop working.
Mara says anytime there are winds exceeding 35 mph, it becomes an issue for any utility company that has infrastructure above the ground. Typically, trees and limbs will fall onto power lines. Most power companies do their best to trim vegetation around power lines. They also urge people not to plant vegetation that can potentially damage infrastructure.
Much of Mississippi will continue to be under a wind chill advisory until Midnight.
