The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) will host three public meetings to discuss proposed changes for the 2019 – 2020 deer hunting season in response to Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
The MDWFP has collected over 7,600 samples for CWD testing since October 2018 and so far, 19 cases have been confirmed with the most recent discoveries of the disease being in Panola, and Tallahatchie counties.
Wildlife staff along with biologists and law enforcement officials will be available at the meetings to discuss the status of CWD and the proposed regulation changes for next hunting season as well as, answer any question the public may have.
The meetings will be held at 6 p.m. at the following locations:
