MADISON, Miss.—The wife of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran has died. Rose Cochran, 73, had dementia and had been in a hospice for the past few weeks.
“Deborah and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Rose Cochran today,” said Governor Phil Bryant. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Thad and his family. Rose was a gracious and humble lady who should be long remembered for her caring and gentle spirit.”
Rose Cochran was the subject of a political scandal earlier this year, in which Tea Party supporters of GOP U-S Senate candidate Chris McDaniel were accused of sneaking into her nursing home room and taking her picture.
Mrs. Cochran married U.S. Senator Thad Cochran in 1964. They have two children.
