While the race for Mississippi’s other Senate seat may be headed for a runoff, one has been called with incumbent Senator Roger Wicker holding onto his seat.
Wicker defeated Democratic challenger David Baria, and this was the first race to be called on election night in Mississippi. While numbers continued to shift throughout the night, Wicker had around 60% of the vote when the race was called.
Shortly after the announcement was made, Wicker spoke with our News Mississippi correspondents at his campaign’s watch party and thanked his supporters and discussed what they can expect following his re-election.
Wicker was endorsed by President Trump ahead of June’s primaries, and he has continued to campaign on the recent success of the economy and other aspects of the President’s agenda.
