BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. – Hancock County is struggling to pay for drug tests. The County Youth Court is paying close to $8,000 a month for drug testing and is expected to have a budget shortfall of $93,000.
75 percent of the cases that come before the Youth Court are drug related and whether-or-not a child can return to their parents, depends on the parents passing a drug test.
One of the ideas officials are touting, in order to reduce the costs, is the creation of a county run drug testing facility.
