When It Was Too Cool For School: Teachers Still Making Up Missed Days

DESOTO COUNTY, Miss– Students in Desoto County are happy to know that they won’t be making up missed school days to due the winter weather in January and February. Teachers, however, will be working a little extra to make up the missed days.

The original plan was that Desoto County schools would be meeting on Saturdays and adding a day to the end of the year to make up for the lost time for snow days. However, the state excused the students for that missed time.

Teachers won’t be getting a free pass though, they’ll have to make up the time.  The attorney general’s office says the teachers have to make up the days because they can’t get paid for days they didn’t work. The teachers will more than likely go to additional development workshops in order to make up for the time lost during severe winter weather in North Mississippi.
