D’IBERVILLE, Miss. – An Ocean Springs woman has been arrested after police said she attempted to steal merchandise from a D’Iberville Target, and then stabbed an employee who tried to stop her.
Darnise Ladner is charged with shoplifting and assault. Police said while at the store Sunday afternoon, Ladner was stopped by an employee for shoplifting. As she is about to be taken to a holding office, police said Ladner pulled a knife and stabbed the security officer in the chest and back. She ran, but was eventually stopped by other Target employees who were able to detain her until police arrived. The injured worker took himself to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
Ladner was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center.
