JACKSON, Miss.–Gas prices are on the rise again and you may be paying even more in the near future. The cost on average in Mississippi went up by a nickel over the weekend.
The state average for a gallon of regular was $3.35 Monday morning, according to www.gasbuddy.com . The average at the close of business Friday was $3.30.
Oil analyst Trilby Lundberg said the reason is simple-oil prices. They keep going up and what you pay corresponds.
“That means retailers are paying more for fuel, getting a little less for it,” she said. “They will need to pass through those hikes to us very quickly.”
Nationally the price has fallen slightly over the past week. But, since Mississippi’s average was so much lower than the national average for so long, it looks like the gap may be closing.
