On New Year’s Eve, expect colder temperatures with partly sunny skies and a slight chance of light freezing rain, some freezing drizzle and light sleet in the morning. Highs will be in the lower 30s and wind chill readings are expected to be anywhere between five to 10. Sunday night, colder temperatures with mostly clear skies. Lows will be well below freezing around 12 to 13 degrees.
In Central Mississippi, Saturday is cloudy with a slight chance of light rain. Highs will be in the upper 40s. Tonight, cloudy skies with a slight chance of light rain in the evening, then a chance of light freezing rain along with a slight chance of light sleet after midnight. Lows will be in the lower 30s. Sunday will be colder and more clouds are expected. Light rain and a chance of some freezing rain is expected in the morning. There is a slight chance of sleet during the day and some more freezing rain in the afternoon. While no snow accumulations are expected, ice accumulations of less than one quarter of an inch are likely. Highs will be in the mid-30s and wind chill readings will range from 12 to 17. Sunday night will be colder with mostly clear skies. Lows will be below freezing around 19 to 20 degrees.
In South Mississippi, expect mostly cloudy skies on Saturday with a slight chance of light rain in the morning. There is also a chance of light rain in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-50s. At night, cloudy with more rain chances during the night. Lows will be in the lower 40s. New Year’s Eve will see more cloudy skies with some light rain in the morning, then a chance of light freezing rain in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-40s. Sunday night will be colder and mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. There is also a slight chance of light rain in the evening. Lows will be in the lower to mid-20s.
