While Friday may be the only day to bring snowfall to Mississippi, the colder temperatures are here to stay; at least through the weekend.
“We’re looking at temperatures in the low 20’s on Saturday morning and still around the freezing marks on Sunday, so be careful,” said MEMA spokesman Greg Flynn.
As colder temperatures persist, Flynn urges everyone to remember the four P’s that accompany cold weather; pets, plants, pipes and people.
Highs in north Mississippi will reach 50 by Sunday, but lows will be around 26. No chance of perception, and the sunshine could help you feel a bit warmer.
In central Mississippi, the high will be 54 over the weekend with lows of 28 and 35 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. Weather should be all clear for the bicentennial celebration on Saturday morning.
South Mississippi temperatures will be similar to the center of the state with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the 32-35 range.
