JACKSON Miss. – Tuesday morning council member DeKeither Stamps announced a resolution was passed Monday by the city council declaring the next seven days for prayer, mourning and reflection for the city of Jackson in the remembrance of Jackson Mayor Chockwe Lumumba.

Stamps reflected on the accomplishments of the past seven months while Lumumba was in office; multiple projects to better the city were taken care of, more jobs were provided, a 1% sales tax was passed along with other achievements. He hopes the right leadership will step up into office to follow in Lumumba’s footsteps in the upcoming special Mayoral election.
