Two wins in two games for Coach Joe Moorhead’s Mississippi State team, and the Bulldogs were incredibly impressive in their victory over Kansas State on Saturday. Moorhead spoke with the local media on Monday about his team’s superlatives and what to look for this weekend when Louisiana comes to Davis Wade Stadium.
Of note, Moorhead was asked about the absence of senior running back Aeris Williams from Saturday’s game. Moorhead said the decision was based on last week in practice, and that based on their performances in drills, Kylin Hill and Nick Gibson were more deserving of playing time. Hill took advantage of that, rushing for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns in a performance that earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week.

As far as Williams goes, Moorhead said he spoke with the senior on Monday and expects him to play a “big role” in this weekend’s home game. Williams rushed for over 1100 yards a season ago, but only has two carries through two games in 2018. With Hill’s emergence as a potential superstar, it appears Williams will be more of a complimentary piece to the offense rather than the bellcow rusher he was in 2017.
I’ll join SportsTalk Mississippi today at 3:20 to discuss this and much more as we get one final look back at Mississippi State’s win in Manhattan, Kansas.
