JACKSON, Miss.–If you’re planning an outside party for New Year’s Eve, you might want to have a good coat and a heater. There’s no rain expected, but it promises to be fairly chilly anywhere in the state.
“Some areas in the state will be in the upper 20s, then the lower 30s the further south you go,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Chad Entremont. “As you get towards the coast it’ll be closer to 40.
The first day of 2015 the rain will move in from the west. The Delta will see the first rain Thursday afternoon, said Entremont.
“There is also some chance that on the very beginning of the rain that air is gonna be dry enough for a few sleet pellets mixed in with the light rain.”
He said that would not last long and there would be no accumulation.
THE WHOLE INTERVIEW
For the next three days after, expect rain and some of it could be heavy, especially Friday night and into Saturday.
