RIDGELAND, Miss– Ice on the bridges one day, high in the 60’s the next. Weather extremes in Mississippi can do a number on your car.
“Batteries, tire sensor lights, and sounds the car makes,” says Hal with Ridgeland Tire Center, “it’s all affected by extreme temperature change.”
Tire pressure lights may come on and then go off again when the temperature changes so much over a short period of time. If the car battery is already weakened, the cold temperatures could drain what’s left, which could leave you having to buy a new battery.
“Some folks come in with their car making noises during cold weather,” says Hal, “but it’s metal and plastic together. The car may run louder and make different noises when it’s cold, then it quietens down.”
Hal says routine maintenance could stave off issues with tires and batteries when the weather changes.
