OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss.- The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality has been surveying Mississippi Sound waters and will be lifting one advisory.
MDEQ has lifted the contact advisory for Front Beach in Ocean Springs from the Yacht Club to Jackson Avenue.
However, that does not mean that everywhere is safe for swimming. In Ocean Springs at Shearwater Beach from Weeks Bayou to Ashley and Waveland Beach from Oak Boulevard to Farve Street are still unsafe for people.
The bacteria levels are still elevated, making it unsafe to touch. Contact with these areas could lead to illness. MDEQ will continue testing waters to determine when the levels are safe for humans.
