A season ago, the one area of concern in the Mississippi State defense was the cornerback position. A year later, the Bulldogs could boast the best duo in the SEC in Cam Dantzler and Maurice Smitherman. We spoke to that pair and their position coach, new College Football Hall of Famer Terrell Buckley about how spring practice is going for them.
Buckley spoke about the group as a whole, and how much he likes the progress they are showing. His message to them entering Saturday’s scrimmage, “Make plays!”

Smitherman made it clear, the Bulldogs have no time to waste this spring, they have to continue to improve, because every other team in the country is doing the same thing.
