Mississippi State returned to the practice field Monday evening for Day 3 of fall camp, as the Bulldogs continue the march towards kickoff August 31 in New Orleans. Here’s a look at Joe Moorhead’s squad in action.

Some thoughts after a grand total of 40 minutes watched in the two practices media has been allowed to attend…..
– Obviously the sample size is small, but every time I watch Tommy Stevens throw, the ball is accurate and catchable. I cannot say the same for Keytaon Thompson, he is just more inconsistent. It’s a matter of when, not if, Stevens is named the starter. I would imagine Moorhead would do that before game week to get Stevens two full weeks of reps with the first team. Put me on the board for a August 17 announcement.
– The size of MSU’s offensive line is incredible, going through the whole two deep. It really reminds me of the lines Jackie Sherrill had in the mid 90’s, which is interesting considering how different the offensive styles are going to be.
– On Monday, Mississippi State’s defensive coaches were working with each position group, rotating across the field. You had Chris Marve working with the cornerbacks while Terrell Buckley was with the defensive linemen. I’m not sure whose idea that was, but it definitely caught my eye.
– On Tuesday, we’ll talk to defensive players and Isaiah Zuber, who we were scheduled to meet with on Monday, but that introductory interview was postponed. Wednesday night, we’ll speak to Coach Moorhead, then no availability until Saturday’s Media, when all coaches and most of the players will speak.
