GULFPORT, MISS– The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality says there’s a part of the gulf water in Gulfport that you should avoid when going for a swim until the warning is lifted.
The Beach Monitoring program red-flagged some water samples coming from the station on the beach which is set up on the East Courthouse Road Beach. That’s the beachline along Courthouse Road to Tegarden Road.
The water samples showed the presence of bacteria that could make you sick if you come in contact with the water.
The warning was issued Wednesday morning, and is in effect until further notice.
