A confrontation turned violent at Walmart in Lucedale on Tuesday night, injuring two people.
The shooting occurred around 10 p.m., Lucedale Police Chief Kellum Fairley said. Law enforcement added that two males were walking into the store when they started backing out of the entrance as another man approached.
One of the first two men pulled a firearm from under his hoodie and began firing, striking the approaching male in the shoulder. Another stray bullet ricocheted and hit a female customer in the foot as she was leaving the store.
The pair of men fled to their vehicle and drove away from the scene, while the man who was shot went back into the store before heading to George Regional Health System. The female struck in the foot was treated at USA Women and Children’s Hospital. Both are expected to make a full recovery.
On Wednesday, Lucedale Police arrested Chancellor Moody, 23, and charged him with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. They also arrested Emanuel Williams, 20, who is charged with one count of accessory after the fact.
