JACKSON, Miss.–If you saw a guy about 50 in a uniform, carrying a flag, walking down the highway near the capital city Monday, you probably saw Leonard Mac McQuown. He’s a U.S. Marines veteran who is walking through the Magnolia State as part of a journey to mark the contributions of veterans around the country.
His plan: to make it to all capital cities in the Unites States, and it could take years.
“My brain, the math, tells me it’ll take four years. It might take longer. It could take up to a dozen years,” he said.

The primary goal is to bring light to wounded and homeless veterans. But, McQuown said he wants to bring awareness to all who have served.
In Mississippi, he was escorted by police and fire trucks.
His journey, once completed, will have been about 15,000 miles.
