JACKSON, MISS–Virtual running. There’s a term you didn’t hear twenty, or even ten years ago, but an virtual running event called the Challenge Dash is encouraging casual and committed runners alike.
The Challenge Dash centers around a website database wherein runners can compare their times to similar races of friends in other cities. You get to design the course yourself, based on where you’re living and where you like to run. Maybe you have a friend in Chicago who prefers urban running on Windy City streets, while you prefer a 5K trek along the scenic Natchez Trace. Virtual running enables both of you to run your race in your town on your own time and compare results on the Challenge Dash database.
Here’s what Katie Hanningan of Jackson said about her experience with the program:
In addition to the fun of competing with your friends around the country, you can vie for prizes like Garmin Forerunner 230 Fitness watches and other cool prizes.
The Challenge Dash takes place Friday August 26th-Monday August 29th. You choose the day and time that works for you. Proceeds benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation. To register and check out the swag you’ll get for participating in The Challenge Dash
