JACKSON, Miss.- With all of the talks and protests against the state flag of Mississippi, supporters of the flag gathered at the State Capitol on Monday.
Joe from Tupelo says, the people of Mississippi have voted and decided on this issue. Among the crowd of supports was a small group of men who were protesting in opposition. Joshua Herring is from Bay Springs and says he doesn’t necessarily appose the flag, just apposes the mindset of the people who push the flag.
Several state lawmakers, such as House Speaker Phillip Gunn, along with both U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, have voiced their opinion to remove the flag, while Governor Phil Bryant and Lieutenant Governor Tate Reeves both feel that the flag should be left alone, after the issue was voted on in back in 2001.
