MOORHEAD– East Mississippi Community College will not play for two games, causing them to miss the playoffs and a shot at defending their national title, says the MACJC.
The entire EMCC team has been suspended for two games, meaning Mississippi playoffs and for returning players, missing the first game of next year. The college can choose to appeal this decision.
This comes after a violent brawl broke out between East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi Delta Community College Thursday night.
East Mississippi Community College was leading over Mississippi Delta Community College 48-0 as halftime approached, but that clock wouldn’t get a chance to run out.
EMCC kept commanding possession of the ball, driving up the score, reports the Commercial Dispatch. A fight broke loose, and the both teams filled the field in an all-out brawl that took law enforcement rushing the field to break it up. At halftime, the game was suspended.
This is not the first run-in EMCC has dealt with this year. Earlier in the season, a referee was ejected from the game for taking a swing at head coach Buddy Stevens. Stevens was suspended for two games.
