VICKSBURG, Ms. – The Vicksburg Police Department will soon be wearing body cameras.
VPD has purchased 81 body cameras that will record every minute of an officers shift.
Chief Walter Armstrong told WAPT that the purpose of the cameras is to protect the department from lawsuits and help officers gather evidence.
Residents can expect to see the cameras on city officers within the next 30 days.
The new cameras cost around $63,000 but will be paid off with money seized in local drug busts.
