The Vicksburg Fire Department responded to a double house fire last night on Johnson street that ended up taking the lives of two children.
“Screams could be heard coming from the home,” said Fire Chief Craig Danczyk.
That’s Vicksburg’s Fire Chief Craig Danczyk who said that a 1-year-old and a 2-year-old died in the fire. Investigators said they believe that they were in the same bedroom.
Danczyk said that a man tried to save the children but he was injured in the process.
Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before they were able to extinguish it.
Danczyk added that the scene was an emotional one for the firefighters.
