Deputies with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office were called to “Evelyn’s Place” located on Flint Young Rd. near Utica
just after just after midnight Monday morning, where a man had been shot.
Investigators said, Marvin Ross, owner of the club, turned the music off and asked some of the patrons to “pull up their pants and stop fighting.”
Deputies said that 33-year-old Alonzo Brown, one of the men allegedly causing the problem, became angry and
pulled a gun, firing shots at the owner. Ross retrieved his weapon and shot the man twice.
Brown was driven to a local hospital where he later died. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators will work with the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office to present this case to a Grand Jury.
