Southern Miss junior right-handed pitcher Tanner Hall has been named a first-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball.
The 2023 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year posted a 12-3 record with a 2.23 ERA. The Golden Eagles’ ace pitched 97 innings, punching out 109, walking 30, and allowing only 67 hits, with opponents hitting .194 against him.
Hall, who was named the Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Championship Most Outstanding Player, was the only starter in the league to win nine of his 10 starts in conference play. The next best was seven.
Hall reached 100-plus strikeouts for the second consecutive season. His 12 wins rank tied for second nationally.
His strikeout total included a career-high 15 against Arkansas State as he enjoyed double-figure strikeout totals four times during the year. He threw a complete-game victory over Troy during the regular season and another one versus James Madison in the Sun Belt Tournament.
The ace’s season wins total ranks second in Southern Miss history, while his career victories (22) are tied for seventh at the school. He also has registered 287 career strikeouts which puts him in fourth place in USM’s record books.
Hall is expected to start for the Golden Eagles when Southern Miss opens postseason play against Samford in the Auburn Regional. The game will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. CT.
