JACKSON, Miss. – Weeks ago PETA put out some pretty disturbing footage showing a pig betting shocked and prodded several times inside Southern Quality Meats, a slaughter house in Pontotoc that supplies food to your kid’s schools. The USDA has now warned the company, saying they have failed to properly train their employees in effective humane handling.
PETA is now asking the Mississippi Department of Education to end their $1.9 million contract with Southern Quality Meats, which stipulates the cannot violate animal welfare laws. The employee who filmed the video has since been “let go.”
