The National Weather Service said severe weather is headed back toward the magnolia state on Sunday. The greatest threat mostly for the central and southern portion of the state.
UPDATE 9:52 p.m. – Here is the latest from the National Weather Service on what to expect as the night continues:
UPDATE 9:19 p.m. – Flash Flood warnings issued for Hinds; Leake; Madison; Rankin; Scott counties until 1:00 a.m.
The NWS estimates some areas could get up to four inches of rain.
UPDATE 8:10 p.m. – Tornado warnings for Hinds, Madison and Yazoo counties have been CANCELLED. No tornado warnings currently in effect at this time.
Severe thunderstorm warnings continue for Madison, Rankin, Yazoo, Hinds, Jefferson Davis, Simpson, Ittawamba, and Warren Counties until late this evening. That means the risk of strong winds and hail continues with these storms.
UPDATE 7:26 p.m. – The tornado warning for Hinds and Warren counties has been extended till 8:30 and Madison and Yazoo Counties added.
Also, earlier in Franklin Parish a likely tornado dam
aged or destroyed 15 structures east of Chase. 1 person injured when a tree fell on car

Severe weather continues, flooding being reported across the city of Vicksburg. Two water rescues ongoing. Turn around, don’t drown!
UPDATE 6:55 p.m. – A tornado warning has been issued for Hinds and Warren Counties until 7:45 p.m.
A severe thunderstorm that is currently over Vicksburg moving northeast with winds of 25 miles per hour. It is capable of producing a tornado.

Severe thunderstorm warnings continue for Calhoun, Chickasaw, Lafayette, and Pontotoc until 7:30 potential for golfball size hail with these storms.
UPDATE 3:20 p.m. – A tornado watch has been issued for Adams; Claiborne; Issaquena; Jefferson; Sharkey; Warren Counties until 9:00 p.m. Sunday night.
A flood warning is in effect for Hancock and Pearl River counties until further notice. Looking out for strong winds in George; Greene; Perry; Stone; Wayne counties until 10:00 p.m.
PREVIOUS:
While most of the bad weather is not expected to hit until later this evening, there is one severe thunderstorm currently south and west of Brookhaven in Northeast Rankin County. That storm is causing heavy rain, and strong winds, but no threat of a tornado yet.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning for Franklin, Jefferson and Lincoln Counties until 1:45 p.m.
The NWS said that another round of storms is expected to move in from Louisiana in the early evening hours. They do expect to see hail and heavy rains in the Delta, around Greenville.
The most severe weather is expected to hit later in the evening around sunset. These storms could produce super cells in west-central Mississippi. Watch out for tornado warnings, strong and damaging winds, and larger hail lasting through the night.
The storms should maintain their severity through the I-55 corridor from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday morning.
