On Tuesday authorities in Lee County received a 911 call that wreckage had been spotted in the median below Interstate 22 in Town Creek.
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green confirmed the identities of the three individuals found: Sean Haygood, 30, Amber “Bam” Smith, 23, Terrance “Terry” Weeg Jr, 29. All three individuals were from Illinois.
Authorities believe there was a fourth person in the vehicle, but no one has been found at this time.
Coroner Green said that the cause of death for Haygood and Smith were classified as multiple trauma, but for Weeg she said it will be hard to determine if it was the trauma or drowning.
When first responders arrived they found an accident and found two bodies near the wreckage. As the search continued another body was found further down the stream.
The vehicle that was wrecked had an out-of-state license plate. The reason for the accident is still unknown. The wreck was reported Tuesday, but officials believe it happened several days ago.
