BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss.- New information has been released regarding the Bay St. Louis police chief who committed suicide in front of officers Thursday.
Officials with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department have confirmed that De Nardo was under investigation for illegally selling weapons that belonged to the city.
There was no confirmation as to whether or not the weapons were from evidence or were purchased for city use.

Local media reported that Chief Mike De Nardo was dealing with the death of his mother and an investigation.
An investigation outside of the city of Bay St. Louis had penned De Nardo as a person of interest. De Nardo was being suspended without pay and escorted from the building just moments before he shot himself in the chest in front of the police department.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike DeNardo has died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
DeNardo was taken by ambulance from the police department around 3 p.m. Law enforcement officials blocked intersections along U.S. 90 for the ambulance.
