CANTON, MISS– A prayer vigil will be held at the Nissan plant in Canton to urge the plant’s administration to allow for unions for workers to seek a due process if they get a positive drug test. Clergy members for the Mississippi Alliance for Fairness at Nissan (MAFFAN) will be holding a prayer vigil outside Nissan’s Canton, Mississippi plant.
MAFFAN members say they want an end to Nissan’s anti-union threats including threatening plant closure, threatening Nissan workers with their jobs and discriminating against union supporters.
MAFFAN leaders claim they’re increasing their campaign in light of recent firings of workers who may have had a positive drug test.
Recently workers report that they were terminated for positive drug tests and that Nissan won’t re-issue the drug test or present the results from the testing centers.
MAFFAN will hold the prayer vigil Saturday outside of Nissan’s gates at 1:30.
