July has come and gone and the University of Mississippi’s Medical Center still has no contract agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. Marc Rolph, Director of Public Affairs for UMMC said that the hospital will continue to accept policies from Blue Cross while they work to iron out a contract. However, he said there is currently no timetable on when that will be.

Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney said that while he is unable to be a part of the negotiations in an official capacity, he wants to make sure that there is a positive outcome for the policyholders.
“I believe I am compelled as your Insurance Commissioner to step up and explore every possible alternative for a resolution to counteract this dispute and provide the citizens of our state with affordable insurance, and access to insurance,” said Chaney.
