Days after being sworn in to office, U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith will take over a seat on the Senate Appropriations Committee that was held by Thad Cochran for years.
“Senators from Mississippi have a proud tradition of serving on the Appropriations Committee, and I look forward to being a good steward of taxpayer dollars as the committee works on fiscal year 2019 bills,” said Hyde-Smith.
Hyde-Smith has been assigned to serve on the following subcommittees:
- Agriculture, Rural Development, Food, and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies
- Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
- Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies
- Legislative Branch
- State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs
The Senator’s first hearing will be Wednesday morning as the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee reviews of the FY2019 budget request for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. In addition, Hyde-Smith will also serve on the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, and the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.
