SUMMIT, Miss.–Two women were found dead outside a home in Summit, in Pike County, Tuesday evening. Police were not saying much about the crime, but the Pike County coroner, Percy Pittman, confirmed their IDs.
They were 39-year-old Tomecka Williams and 30-year-old Christie Wells.
There was no info Wednesday morning on how the two died or who may have done it, though police said they were looking for a suspect.
This is the second double murder in the state in less than a week and in the past month there have been four separate cases where more than one person was murdered at the same time. That includes a quadruple killing on Moon St. in the capital city, the murder of the Smith family in Jackson and Copiah County, and lst week’s killing in Oxford of Dr. Carol Gary and her 12-year-old son.
Despite the recent violence, a recent man on the street report by News Mississippi found that almost everyone interviewed still felt Mississippi was safe.
