HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – A Marshall County Grand Jury has indicted Melandus Penson. He’s the man accused of driving drunk and hitting a car filled with students.
The incident happened back in May, on highway 78, in Marshall County.
Five people were in the car Penson hit. Two of them died, 17-year-olds Rachel Lynch and Maddie Kruse. Also injured in the crash were classmates Kara Holden and Caroline Kam. Kam’s grandmother was driving the car that day.
According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper Leo Hampton, Penson’s blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest was .14, almost twice the legal limit.
