Families are hurting after two recent tragedies involved two people from Mississippi.
In the first incident, two barges collided on the Mississippi River in Louisiana early Sunday morning.
The collision between the two vessels caused one of the vessels to sink. Four men went into the Mississippi River, but only one was rescued.
The Coast Guard has identified the three missing as Shawn Pucheu of Bay St. Louis, Lester Naquin, and Matthew Brigalia.
The search, which was suspended Monday, covered over 835 nautical miles.
And, a devastating dock fire in Alabama early Monday, claimed the lives of eight people, including a Mississippi woman.
One of the victims has been identified as Amanda Garrard of Oak Grove. It has been reported that Amanda was leading special needs children to safety when she perished in the fire.
A mother and her four children were also among the victims. The massive fire destroyed dozens of boats in the marina and it is feared the number of victims may rise.
Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
