JACKSON, Miss.–The last three days in the Magnolia State have seen a hot-streak of luck.
Over the weekend Linda Guntharp of Tupelo won $1 million in Tunica during a Millionaire Maker drawing where she took the lump sum from Tunica Roadhouse Casino.
On Monday Samantha Netterville of Woodville also won $1 million playing Powerball just over the Mississippi state line in St. Francisville, LA.
“We’re right over the state line and the way I understand it is that Mississippi doesn’t have a lottery,” said Mark Stegall the district supervisor for the State Line Food Mart where the winning ticket was sold.
Netterville matched 5 of the 6 numbers needed for the now $350 million Powerball prize resulting in the $1 million winnings.
“When the number does get high, yes we get an increase [of people buying tickets],” said Stegall.
The next drawing for the nine-figure winnings will be Wednesday.
