MOSELLE, Miss- Two teenagers are charged with manslaughter after police found a man beaten and unresponsive on the ground.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department received a call Wednesday night around 9:20 p.m. that there was an altercation taking place on River Road near Leaf River in Jones County.
Alex Crews, 17, and Timothy Meadows, 17, were arrested and charged with manslaughter after cops found the guys on the ground near the deceased man.
Major Jamie Tedford, Chief of Operations for Jones County Sheriff’s Department, said when police arrived to the scene they found 44-year-old Timothy Brian Williamson unresponsive.
Tedford said two of the guys were ordered up off the ground while the other man was laying there unconscious and unresponsive. The deputy said he had severe trauma to his head and that’s when he rolled him over and started CPR.
Other medical response teams showed up to help, but it was too late. The coroner was called and pronounced the man dead on the scene.
Tedford said the initial aggressor is undetermined, but the two young males had minimum scratches and damage to their bodies compared to what the victim did.
An exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed pending the results of an autopsy. The case is under investigation.
Crews and Meadows will have their initial court appearance at 1:30 p.m. at Jones County Justice Court Friday.
